Making It Easy for Customers to Contact You

You can have the best website in the world, but if customers can’t figure out how to contact you, you’re losing work. Tradies rely on quick, clear communication - and your website should make it as easy as possible for people to reach you.

Here’s how to get it right.

Put Your Phone Number Front & Centre

Your phone number should be at the very top of your website - not hidden away on the contact page. Make it big, clear, and clickable (so mobile users can tap to call).

Pro tip: Use a button that says “Call Now” or “Get in Touch Today.” Action words encourage people to actually make the call.

Keep Forms Short & Simple

Enquiry forms are handy, but don’t overcomplicate them. Nobody wants to fill out a 20-question form just to ask about a job.

Stick to the basics:

  • Name

  • Phone/email

  • Job details (brief description, address, and timeline if needed)

The easier it is to send you an enquiry, the more likely you’ll get one.

Offer Multiple Contact Options

Different customers prefer different ways to connect. Alongside your phone number, consider:

  • Email address for those who like to write details.

  • Contact form for quick enquiries.

  • Click-to-call button for mobile users.

  • Links to Google Business Profile or social media (optional, but handy).

Respond Quickly (and Say You Do)

One of the biggest complaints about tradies is slow replies. If you can, let people know when they’ll hear back. For example:

“We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.”

Even better: set up an automatic email reply so people know their message has gone through.

Make Contact Details Visible Everywhere

Don’t just stick your number on the contact page. Add it:

  • In the header at the top of every page.

  • At the bottom (footer) of every page.

  • On your services pages (so customers don’t have to click around).

Repetition makes it easy for people to take action when they’re ready.

Final Word

At the end of the day, your website’s job is to turn visitors into customers. By making your contact details impossible to miss, keeping forms simple, and offering multiple ways to get in touch, you’ll make it easy for people to pick up the phone or send you a message - and that means more work coming your way.
